Alpha H Liquid Gold and Pixi Glow Tonic - the glow enhancers!

Like many bloggers I'm addicted to Caroline Hirons blog, if you haven't yet discovered her then where have you been?! She's a total skincare guru and she knows her stuff. I've totally overhauled my skincare collection and she has definitely made me rethink my routine - no more baby wipes on lazy nights if you get what I mean!

Two products that I invested in immediately after reading her tips and reviews were Liquid Gold by Alpha H and Glow Tonic by Pixi. An acid toner is a MUST in any skincare routine and these two wonders do the job but in different ways.

Starting with Glow Tonic, this is gentle enough to use everyday. It's alcohol free and acts as an exfoliating tonic that gently resurfaces the skin - the complete opposite to Clinique Clarifying Lotion which I can only describe as being like applying acid to your face! It has 5% glycolic acid as well which is good for sloughing away dead skin cells and helps against skin ageing. I've found since using this that my skin is much brighter, my moisturiser sinks in perfectly and make up applies like a dream. It costs £16 and you can buy it here

Alpha H Liquid Gold is similar in the way that its an acid tone however, it packs more of a punch. The description on the bottle says: The Glycolic based formulation works like an “overnight facial” to brighten and revitalise tired, ageing skin, and radically improve the appearance of the complexion.

You should apply this every other evening instead of your usual acid tone and once touch dry you can then go straight in with your moisturiser or, for a more intense hit you can leave it to work on its own. I love this product, personally I wouldn't recommend it for sensitive skin types as it can leave the face tingly for a little while and I know that some people don't like that. It costs £31.50 from Alpha H which may sound steep however, a little goes a long way and it really does work. I know that QVC also stock this and sometimes have it on a special buy.

Since using both of the products I have noticed that I have less fine lines and my skin has that healthy glow, I've even braved going to the shops with no make-up on and managed to not scare people!

What are your favourite glow enhancing products?

  1. If you had to choose one between the two, which one is better and good value for the money?
